Český Krumlov City Park

This guide to Český Krumlov City Park traces what grew on this shaded riverside square long before it was ever a park. It follows the Jesuit monks who laid out a kitchen garden here in the late fifteen hundreds, and the burgess Johann Pinsker, who bought and broke up the property once the order was dissolved in 1773 and tore down the footbridge that had linked the garden to the household across the water. An 1819 survey still found neat rows of vegetables growing in these beds.
