Catedral Primada de Colombia

This guide to the Catedral Primada in Bogotá follows José Celestino Mutis, a Spanish priest turned botanist who spent twenty-five years cataloguing the plants of the Royal Botanical Expedition after arriving in Santa Fe de Bogotá in 1761. It traces what happened to his remains after he died here in 1808, buried first at the church of Santa Inés, then moved when that church was demolished in 1957. Look to the side chapels near the altar as you walk through.
