Gardiner Museum

This guide to the Gardiner Museum in Toronto follows stockbroker George Gardiner and his wife Helen, who began collecting ceramics almost by accident in the mid-1970s and built one of the finest pottery and porcelain collections anywhere. When talks to donate it to the Royal Ontario Museum fell apart, George built his own museum instead, opening in 1984. You'll hear how the venture nearly failed within a few years of opening.
