Chau Chak Wing Museum

The Chau Chak Wing Museum's guide opens on an old biscuit tin in the storerooms, holding a mummified human foot once displayed as a curiosity beside a mummified hand and bandaged head. It follows senior curator Melanie Pitkin's eighteen-month survey of visitors and Sydney's Egyptian community, asking what it means to keep fragments of dead strangers on show, and the museum's April 2024 decision to act on what she heard.
