Healesville Sanctuary (Zoos Victoria)

This guide to Healesville Sanctuary follows naturalist David Fleay's 1939 hunt for one of the hardest animals alive to keep in captivity, the platypus. After building an elaborate creek-side enclosure for three platypuses he named Jack, Jill and Rebecca, he watched them for years for any sign of breeding, including a courtship dance he could only half interpret.
