Sigmund Freud Museum

The Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna opens on March 22, 1938, when Gestapo officers raided this Berggasse apartment and took Anna Freud, daughter of psychoanalysis's founder, in for questioning. The guide follows how her arrest changed her elderly, ailing father's mind about leaving the city he had called home for nearly eighty years, and the diplomatic effort, including Princess Marie Bonaparte, that secured the family's exit visa. It traces what he took with him when he left the building for the last time in June 1938.
