On July 15, 1927, tens of thousands of Viennese converged on Vienna's Parliament building after right-wing paramilitaries were acquitted of killing two political rivals, jeering at the line of police guarding these steps. The guide follows how the furious crowd turned toward the nearby Palace of Justice, and reaches back to Carl Kundmann's gilded Athena, goddess of wisdom, watching over the entrance since 1902.
