Nhà Thờ Giáo Xứ Tân Định

This guide to the Tan Dinh parish church in Ho Chi Minh City opens in the 1890s, with a Catholic priest selling lottery tickets on the street to fund a bigger building than the fragile wooden chapel his predecessor had raised in 1876. Father Louis-Eugène Louvet ran that lottery himself, and the rebuilt church, a mix of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance touches, took two years to rise more than fifty meters into the sky above Hai Bà Trưng Street.
