Arctic Building

This guide to the Arctic Building in Seattle traces the six weeks that undid a congressman named Marion Zioncheck in 1936. It follows his rowdy rise to Congress as its most talked-about freshman, the White House lawn stunt and hotel-fountain dance that made him a national joke, and the lunacy warrant his own family used to have him committed that June. By early August he was free again, back at his fifth-floor campaign office in this building, running for a third term as though nothing had happened.
