This guide to the Philadelphia Museum of Art follows Marcel Duchamp, working alone and mostly at night in a rented New York room from 1946 to 1966, on a piece he tells almost no one about, even friends who consider him finished as an artist. His lover Maria Martins poses for its central figure, and after Duchamp remarries, the work quietly changes to keep pace with his own life.
