This guide follows Hamilton Holt, Rollins College's eighth president, and the odd walkway he began building in 1929 out of stones gathered from the homes and haunts of history's most famous names. You'll hear how a handful of stones grew to hundreds, tied to figures from George Washington to Fred Rogers, and about the battered three-thousand-pound millstone hauled in from Connecticut and carved with a line from Shakespeare. Along the way it raises the question of just how a small Florida college president managed to talk his way into pieces of some of the world's best-guarded landmarks.
