About this audio guide
This guide to the Nashville Public Library's Main branch on Church Street follows the puzzle architect Robert A. M. Stern's team solved when they won a national competition to design it on a steeply sloped downtown block already covered by a parking garage. You'll hear how they turned that obstacle into part of the building itself, and how the finished design was deliberately aligned with another Nashville landmark. It also touches the mural painted for the Grand Reading Room ceiling.
