About this audio guide
This guide to Grimey's New and Preloved Music in Nashville traces how a two thousand fan lawsuit still echoed through a record store basement eight years later. In the spring of two thousand eight, with Metallica still living down its bruising fight with Napster, an idea floated at South by Southwest brought the band to this small East Nashville shop. You'll hear how the show stayed secret for months, and who managed to talk their way through the door. Stop by the used vinyl bins near the register, where a plain black sleeve still marks the night.
