MGM Grand

This guide to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas centers on the lion-mouth entrance that greeted guests when the resort opened as the world's largest hotel in December 1993, and a superstition that spread fast among gamblers. Walking through those golden jaws worried visitors familiar with Chinese luck traditions, even though the mouth sat some thirty feet above the sidewalk, nowhere near the actual doors. Some high rollers steered their cars toward a different entrance altogether.
