Polynesian Cultural Center

This guide to the Polynesian Cultural Center in Honolulu follows the college students of Brigham Young University Hawaii who perform their own Pacific Islander cultures nightly to pay their tuition, ever since the center opened in 1963. It traces the near-failure that almost closed the grounds and the church leader who turned it around, and walks through the six island villages: Hawaii, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti and Aotearoa. Many performers will be back in a lecture hall by morning.
