This guide to the Honolulu Museum of Art follows Anna Rice Cooke, the missionary's daughter whose parlor art collecting on this Beretania Street site swallowed her family's home room by room. It traces how, in her late sixties, she pulled in her daughter, daughter-in-law and a schoolteacher to catalogue thousands of objects toward one goal: a museum for Hawaii's children who would never see the Louvre.
