Ala Moana Center

This guide to Ala Moana Center in Honolulu traces La Ronde, the revolving restaurant that once turned atop its office tower in 1961, the third of its kind on Earth and the first in the United States, patented by its architect John Graham. The mall itself rose from a dredged swamp the Dillingham family had filled in, opening in 1959 as the country's largest shopping center.
