Doll's Head Trail

This guide to Doll's Head Trail in Atlanta follows Joel Slaton, an out-of-work carpenter who wandered into an overgrown stretch of DeKalb County in February twenty eleven and started picking through the ruins of the old South River Brick Company, a pit that once fired bricks for Atlanta's sewers before it flooded into what are now Constitution Lakes. Amid the washed-up trash, he kept finding the broken heads of children's dolls, and instead of throwing them out he began wiring them to branches and propping them against bricks. Look down at your feet along the two and a half mile loop; the next half-buried toy or bottle you spot might belong on the trail too.
