Delta Flight Museum

This guide to the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta opens with a loaded handgun smuggled onto a Detroit-bound Delta jet inside a hollowed-out Bible, part of the July 1972 hijacking of Flight 841 by five members of the Black Liberation Army. It follows the ransom drop in Miami, made unmistakably weapon-free by a maintenance foreman wearing nothing but swim trunks, and the flight's onward path to Algeria. Four of the five hijackers were caught within years, but you'll hear about the one who boarded dressed as a priest and where his trail went cold. The museum's two hangars hold quieter relics from that same decade, including Navy uniforms and in-flight typewriters.
