Kaleiçi Old Town

This guide walks Kaleiçi, Antalya's old walled quarter, starting on Hesapçı Sokak and drifting into the lanes where Ottoman wooden balconies lean toward each other over hidden courtyards. It traces the district back through the empires that built on top of one another here: Roman Attaleia, Byzantine rule, a thirteenth-century Seljuk conquest, and the Ottoman city layered above it all. Look for Hadrian's still-gleaming triumphal arch and a minaret rising from a much older temple along the way.
