Rosendals Trädgård

This guide to Rosendals Tradgard in Stockholm traces the garden back to 1861, when Queen Josefina leased the ground to the Swedish Horticultural Society, which built a training school here and staged autumn exhibitions of hundreds of homegrown apple varieties under glass. It follows the tens of thousands of fruit and park trees the nursery sent out across Sweden over half a century, and the master gardeners the school trained in a craft the country barely had before. The apple trees near the entrance today are descendants of that original nursery stock.
