Kungsholmen

This guide to Kungsholmen in Stockholm follows the Order of the Seraphim, the knightly order King Frederick I founded in 1748, and the hospital it built on the island in 1752 to care for the city's sick and dying. It traces two centuries of patients passing through Serafen, the poet Carl Michael Bellman's mention of the building in a 1790 verse, and the ritual the knights still keep for their own dead.
