The House of Syeda Fatima bint al-Husayn

This guide to the House of Syeda Fatima bint al-Husayn in Medina follows a granddaughter of Ali and Fatima al-Zahra after her family home was absorbed into the Prophet's Mosque expansion under caliph al-Walid. Rebuilding on Medina's harsh volcanic western ridge, she ordered a well dug beside her new house, only for her diggers to strike solid rock almost immediately and tell her plainly there was no water to be found. Rather than walk away, she performed her ablution and prayed two short prayers on the very spot where they had stopped digging.
