Jurana Mosque

This guide to Jurana Mosque near Mecca returns to the eighth year of the Islamic calendar, when Muhammad's army camped in the valley of Ji'ranah after the Battle of Hunayn with a vast haul of captured camels, sheep and captives. As the spoils were distributed, the Ansar of Medina, who had sheltered the Prophet when Mecca expelled him and had just held their ground against a surprise ambush, watched much of the wealth go to newly converted Meccan leaders instead.
