This guide to the Roof Garden of the University of Warsaw Library follows landscape architect Irena Bajerska, who won an international competition years before a single seed went into the ground and had to cut her planting list nearly in half by the time work began in 2002. It walks you up from ivy-covered walls carved with formulas and quotations, through five small color-named gardens, to a cascade and pond below. Look back toward the entrance walls for the alphabets you might not recognize among the carvings.
