Polish Army Museum

This guide to the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw opens inside the Warsaw Citadel, the fortress built by Tsar Nicholas I after 1830 to keep Warsaw in check. In 1900 it held a young revolutionary, one of many poets, priests and uprising leaders imprisoned there for plotting against Russian rule. That prisoner was Jozef Pilsudski, who later became independent Poland's leader and in 1920 signed the decree creating the museum itself.
