Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanów

This guide to the Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanow traces a private code: in 1661 a soldier named Jan Sobieski and the woman he loved, Maria Kazimiera, began writing to each other under invented names, with love called oranges and letters called sweet preserves. Decades later, now King of Poland, he built this palace as a monument to that same coded romance, its facade carved with the private jokes of two people.
