Museum of Caricature E. Lipiński

This guide to the Museum of Caricature E. Lipinski in Warsaw opens in the early 1940s inside the Warsaw ghetto, where caricaturist Eryk Lipinski forged identity papers to help Jewish friends escape, hiding people in his own apartment for years. It follows what happened when one of his missions went wrong, then traces the decades after, when he spent thirty years hoarding drawings and fighting to open this museum inside a ruined eighteenth-century orangery. The collection today numbers more than twenty-five thousand drawings, including works by Hogarth and Daumier.
