Pucllana Site Museum

This guide to the Pucllana Site Museum in Lima traces a pre-Inca adobe pyramid built by the Lima culture starting around 400 CE, engineered with staggered platforms and bricks stacked like books to survive earthquakes. It follows archaeologist Isabel Flores Espinoza's excavations since 1981, which uncovered young women buried as ritual offerings inside the platforms, along with smashed pottery and animal bones. Centuries later the Wari people took the site over as their own cemetery.
