House of Peruvian Literature

This guide to the House of Peruvian Literature in Lima starts with the building's first life as Estacion Desamparados, opened in 1912 as architect Rafael Marquina's first public commission and Lima's grand rail gateway to the Andes. It traces the station's decline as the railway died, and the government's decision in 2009 to convert it into a home for Peru's writers rather than demolish it.
