Museum Van Loon

This guide to Museum Van Loon in Amsterdam opens two days after Rembrandt's funeral in 1669, when his most devoted pupil, the painter Ferdinand Bol, signed a marriage contract with Anna van Erckel, a widow several times wealthier than he was. Bol had trained under Rembrandt for six years and once imitated him so closely that collectors mixed up their work. Her late husband had served as treasurer of the Admiralty of Amsterdam.
