Seven-figure bronze memorial honouring those killed in the Malayan Emergency, 1948 to 1960.
This guide opens before dawn on August 26, 1975, when Communist guerrillas bombed the base of Malaysia's National Monument, and reaches back to Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman's request that sculptor Felix de Weldon design it after the Iwo Jima Memorial. It follows the three young art graduates given the job of putting the shattered bronze figures back together, guided by their Australian lecturer.
