Jardin Majorelle

This guide to Jardin Majorelle traces the French painter Jacques Majorelle, who arrived in Marrakesh in 1917 and spent nearly four decades building this garden and the cobalt-blue villa at its center, only to lose it all in a divorce as the grounds fell into disrepair. Decades later two strangers, the designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé, heard the garden was about to be bulldozed for a hotel and bought it instead.
