Shiseibyō

This guide to Shiseibyo in Okinawa traces the Confucian temple of Kumemura, the Naha district settled in the late thirteen hundreds by thirty-six families sent from Fujian to serve the Ryukyu Kingdom's kings as scholars and translators. It follows the temple the Chinese Kangxi Emperor gave those families in the sixteen seventies, the school a local magistrate built beside it decades later, and the Battle of Okinawa that burned Kumemura to the ground in 1945.
