Porta Borsari

Porta Borsari, the two-arched Roman gateway into Verona, carries a name that has nothing to do with the emperors who built it. This guide follows the gate back almost two thousand years to an earlier dedication to Jupiter, and traces the ox-carts of wine, grain and oil that once queued along the Via Postumia to pay their way into the city.
