Campo de' Fiori

This guide to Campo de' Fiori in Rome tells the story of Giordano Bruno, a former Dominican friar and philosopher whose belief in an infinite universe of countless suns and worlds put him at odds with the Inquisition. Arrested in 1593 and held seven years, he refused to recant, and on a February morning in 1600 he was led into this square, then filled with flower stalls and a waiting crowd. The market still fills the piazza every morning.
