National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy

This museum's guide begins in nineteen seventy-two, when craftspeople raised a temporary trade-fair village that never came down, and follows how architect Charles Correa built the rest of the museum around it between nineteen seventy-five and nineteen ninety. It traces the vision of independence activist Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay, who wanted artisans still working rather than objects under glass, among more than thirty-five thousand pieces including Karnataka's Bhoota spirit figures.
