Gurudwara Shri Rakab Ganj Sahib

The guide to this Old Delhi gurdwara opens in the autumn of sixteen seventy-five, when Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb had Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, publicly beheaded at Chandni Chowk for refusing to convert to Islam. It follows Lakhi Shah Vanjara, a cotton trader who knew every road into the city, as a dust storm rolled through Delhi and he resolved to recover the Guru's body under its cover. The gurdwara marks where he brought it, and what he risked to see it properly honored.
