Tel Aviv Museum of Art

This guide to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art traces the museum back to its first home, the private house Meir Dizengoff donated in 1932 in memory of his wife Zina, a few streets from the current building, and to the afternoon in 1948 when that same small hall briefly doubled as the site of a nation's founding ceremony. It follows sixteen crowded years of paintings by Chagall and Modigliani filling the old house's former bedrooms, before the collection outgrew it.
