Sommer Contemporary Art
שביל התנופה 6 קומה 4, Shvil Hatnufa 6, 4th floor, Tel Aviv-Jaffa, 6653506
Converted factory space showing site-specific installations by emerging and celebrated artists.
Sommer Contemporary Art's guide opens in 2011, when Tel Aviv artist Yael Bartana became the first non-Polish citizen invited to represent Poland at the Venice Biennale, with films imagining Jews returning en masse to a homeland many had left. The gallery behind that moment was founded in 1999 by dealer Irit Fine Sommer, who bet early on unknown artists, before it moved after two decades on Rothschild Boulevard into a former industrial building south of the city.
