Rubin Museum

This guide to the Rubin Museum traces painter Reuven Rubin's path from an unknown teenage arrival in Ottoman Palestine to a 1921 New York show championed by photographer Alfred Stieglitz, and on to his two years as Israel's first envoy to Romania starting in 1948, a diplomatic post that became something closer to a rescue operation. Rubin and his American wife settled into this Bialik Street house in 1945, and the studio he painted in upstairs is one you can still walk into today.
