Gutman Museum

This guide to the Gutman Museum traces a house built in 1887 as one of the first buildings in Neve Tzedek, and its years around 1910 as the newsroom of the Hebrew paper Hapoel Hatzair, where writers including Yosef Chaim Brenner were shaping modern Hebrew literature. It follows the Writers' House through its decline into disuse and empty rooms by the 1960s, and introduces painter Nahum Gutman, who arrived in this neighborhood as a seven-year-old immigrant.
