Beji Sangsit Temple

This guide to Beji Sangsit Temple in northern Bali starts with two European figures, a guitarist and a rebab player, carved into the inner gateway beside a coiled naga serpent, an image nobody has ever fully explained. It traces the temple back to the fifteenth century, when Majapahit priests and craftsmen crossed from Java to Bali carrying their traditions with them.
