Liszt Ferenc tér

This guide to Liszt Ferenc tér in Budapest opens in 1948, when two statues honoring a revolutionary and an architect vanished from the square overnight under a flimsy official excuse. It reaches back to the square's start as a silk factory street in the 1780s, its transformation into a park and then a square in 1907, the same year an Art Nouveau music academy opened on its edge under its first director, Franz Liszt.
