Eastern Wall

This guide to the Eastern Wall of Jerusalem's Temple Mount opens in 1541, when Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent ordered a gate bricked shut out of fear of one figure he could never catch. The wall behind it traces back to King Hezekiah, centuries older than the famous Western Wall around the corner, and the gate had already been sealed and reopened twice before by earlier rulers. Look for the cemetery laid directly against the stones beside it.
