Kloof Street

This guide to Kloof Street in Cape Town centers on Salon Ninety One, a tiny gallery Monique du Preez opened in October 2008 in a room barely bigger than a living room. Its first show, Under These Skies, hung two then-unknown painters, Wesley van Eeden and Paul Senyol, and nobody expected much of a newcomer squeezed between the wine bars and delis. Over the years it carried the work of artists like Kirsten Sims and Andrew Sutherland as far as art fairs in Sydney.
