Untitled by Pablo Picasso

This guide to the untitled Picasso sculpture in Chicago's Daley Plaza opens with an odd puzzle: the piece is often linked to Kabul, the artist's Afghan hound, though Picasso never once visited the city it now overlooks. It follows architect William Hartmann's months spent courting Picasso in the south of France, the shoebox-size maquette that resulted, and the structural engineers at United States Steel's Gary Works who had to translate that small model into a monument of Cor-Ten steel.
