Little Village Arch

This guide to the Little Village Arch in Chicago follows two Vietnam War veterans, Ronald Baltierra and David Ramirez, who came home and went into construction before building the gateway to 26th Street. It traces the late-1980s planning with a young alderman, Chuy Garcia, and the six months of construction that kept traffic moving beneath scaffolding. Architect Adrian Lozano modeled the design on gateways to Mexican haciendas and walled towns.
