This guide to the Western Wall tunnels in Jerusalem follows Rabbi Yehuda Getz in the summer of 1981, wading into a flooded, forgotten passage he believed led toward the Ark of the Covenant itself, after his workers enlarging an underground synagogue broke through into a hall unseen for centuries.
