DuSable Bridge

This guide to the DuSable Bridge in Chicago centers on a limestone relief carved in 1928 by sculptor Henry Hering, showing a scene from the Fort Dearborn Massacre of 1812, when Potawatomi warriors clashed with American soldiers evacuating the fort. It follows why one fighter in the sculpture had a name for decades while the other stayed anonymous, and how a descendant, writer Sharon Hoogstraten, has worked to have him recognized as the Potawatomi chief Naunongee.
